New gym, new workout plan

Nickie-
I have signed up at a new gym (still have membership at the Y) and also set up personal training with Meg. We had class with Meg when she subbed at the Y. She kicked our butts in a good way. I loved it! Meg now owns her own gym with a couple others. I am supposed to be going to the Bootcamp class at 5:15 am (yikes!) Monday, Wednesday, and Friday BUT Bob has to go in early tomorrow :( I will not be making the class since I have no one to watch the kids but I will be taking the Y class with Mom at 8 like we have been. Meg said it was OK to do that class with the Bootcamp class. That means that I will be getting 2 workouts in everyday! I'm excited!! Bootcamp and Y class on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday then Personal Training and TKD on Tuesday and Thursdays. This Thursday I can't do TKD because I have to take A to get an ultrasound on her leg.

Bob-

It has been awhile since I have posted.  Working 60 hours a week and taking college courses is kicking my ass.  By the time I get home and spend a little bit of time with Nickie and the kids I just want to go to bed.  But no, at 8/9pm it is homework time.  I usually don't get to exercise because of all the running we do with the kids.  Then homework has me up until midnight every night unless I pass out in my book.  On top of the busy home life I had to go into work early Friday and Saturday.  This messes me all up since I have to be there by 3am!!!  I generally have extra snacks and drink too much coffee.  Luckily I have been avoiding the "crappy" snacks so I have not gained weight.  That means I am still on track to win our diet bet.  For now that is the goal, win the diet bet and not go insane working every freaking day.  I'm glad Nickie handles the major chores.  Thanks, love you :)

Finances

Nickie-
Mom and I got our morning walk in, our class members were late. We did our hour then left. I went to the Y to do my internship and paid for our TKD class next month. I ate coffee and a banana for breakfast, salad and strawberries for lunch, and milk and animal crackers for a snack. I'm looking into opening a couple money market accounts so we can get money saved up for a house and pay off our student loans in a timely manner. We did eat out tonight but Bob and I shared a sub from Subway. I helped the kids make tie-dye shirts for spirit week next week.

I think the kids are going to have fun for spirit week, it was always my favorite. We are planning on going to the game as well. This will be the first game since we moved here (over 10 yr ago!) that we will attend. Spirit week is: Monday-Favorite color day, Tuesday-Red White and Blue, Wednesday-PJ day, Thursday-Tie Dye, Friday-Wildcat day.

Revelation

Nickie-
P didn't have a game today because the other team didn't have enough players. I had coffee and a banana for breakfast. I did some chores then had lunch (salad and pizza biscuits). After lunch I took kids to my Mom's to stay the night. While there I snacked on cottage cheese, animal crackers, a pudding bar, pop, and milk. I hate that I always feel like I need to snack like crazy there even though I wasn't hungry. After getting home, Bob and I walked out at Boy Scout Lake. I think he enjoyed it as much as I do. We watched the OSU game and had dinner (sour cream noodle bake). Then we had dessert, an ice cream bar.

I saw something today that I wanted to address....on Facebook I saw a post of a nude woman covering her lady parts tastefully. It did not offend me, she was beautiful in her imperfections. She had posted (for whatever reason) and a commenter had told her "no one wants to see your fat whale ass, go kill yourself". NOBODY should be telling another person to go kill yourself. The poster struggled with depression and attempted suicide previous to this comment. I understand her. I decided that I need to think about myself differently.....I am guilty of saying "I'm fat." I'm not fat!! I have fat in the same way that I have fingernails or hair. I am many things: a mother, a wife, a daughter, a friend, honest, loyal, determined, etc...but fat is one thing I am not! This is something that DOES NOT define me! This negative thinking gets passed down to our children, I do not want my children to have the negative body image I did (which cause much of my depression in HS). I try now to have the kids eat healthier and exercise more. I no longer tell them "no, you can't go outside. It's too hot. It's too cold". I allow them to play outside no matter the temperature, just like I did as a kid!

Restart

Nickie-
This seems like a restart day after the HORRIBLE day I had yesterday. I did not even count the calories in MFP but I know that it was well over 3,000 and wouldn't surprise me if it was close to 5,000. That is ridiculous and unacceptable! This morning I had my cup of coffee, banana, and last microwave pita crap Mom gave me. Mom and I headed to Boy Scout Lake again, I really love walking out there. Mom said she would never go alone, but I definitely would. I'm not scared. After the walk, I headed home for a quick change before my internship. I learned a little about reporting and how nonprofit differs from profit businesses as far as taxes go (which is the main difference). After I left the YMCA, I came home and ate an early lunch which was a salad. I folded clothes for an hour and there are still more to fold!! We need to keep up on chores, it is soooo hard! Now I'm working on homework and a research assignment from the YMCA (about Affordable Care Act reporting) until the kids get home from school.

Dinner was leftovers (Cheeseburger lasagna). Girls had a soccer game and P had practice. A got mad that the other team kept scoring goals so when she was defender she was DETERMINED not to let any balls get in that goal LOL She came back to me saying she didn't want them to score anymore so she kicked it as hard as she could. She is so funny.

I went to bed early, wasn't feeling well.

Glutton

Nickie-
No class this morning due to kids having a 2 hour delay. I had a breakfast pita, banana, and a coffee for breakfast. I have started interning at the Y, which I am so happy and thankful for. I love what they stand for: community. I went to Walmart after to get copies of school pictures, had to wait an hour so I ate out (even though I didn't want to and I could have came home to eat but didn't want to drive on other side of town). I had Arbys (turkey sandwich, curly fries, mozzarella sticks, and a tea). Not good!! I only planned on getting the sandwich and a drink but noooooo. Then when I went back to Walmart to get my pictures I wasn't allowed because they were from Lifetouch and I didn't have copyrights (CD) to them. How do I not have copyright when they are my kids and I bought the picture?! I went home after wasting my time, money, and calories for the day. Now a few hours later I just finished off the box of oreos from making Cookies N Cream fudge!! I hate that I think I need to eat more than one or two! Now my stomach hurts and that is even more calories eaten. I feel like I am punishing myself through eating or something. I am definitely an emotional eater and it is very hard to get over this issue. What's worse is that I know we are going to eat out tonight since we will not be home. I will get the healthiest option for sure. I think I also eat like that when I am alone because I don't when I have an audience. Oh!!! And I forgot about the 2 fudge pops I had when I got back from the store! :( :(

Red Robin for dinner....I had a fiery ghost double burger and "steamed" broccoli with raspberry tea (not sweetened). The burger wasn't that many calories but I didn't care for it. The broccoli was hot but not steamed. I guess they don't know the difference. Raspberry tea was VERY bland not sweetened. We then ordered dessert but took it home, chocolate fruffles (chocolate brownie "fries"). And you know that you have to stop at Starbucks if you are going through Marysville (which we do) so I had a graham cracker latte.

Weekend update and Monday post

Nickie-
I didn't update how the weekend went. Saturday, P had a soccer game. He really enjoys playing, almost scored a goal. Bob wanted to get a heavy bag from Columbus that was on sale so we headed there after he got off work, we took P and the twins stayed with Mawmaw and Papa Jackson. It was $180 for the stand, heavy bag, and a speed bag. Like this one...Everlast PowerCore 2 Station Stand and Bag Kit - Dick's Sporting Goods
Well, they didn't have any more heavy bags so they gave us the one from the floor model. They said the speed bag was in the box. He put the bag up on Sunday after work and realized there was no speed bag. *Update* After being on hold for 15 minutes I was finally able to get through to someone, they are holding a leather bag for us to pick up. We are probably heading down Wednesday. We ate at BJ's. I had the Bison Burger, Sweet Tea, and Calamari appetizer.

I fought with kids this morning because P decided that he wanted to pack at 7 (5 minutes before we leave). This made B upset because she had just talked about being a packer one day. I told her to wait for a day when she doesn't like the food. I had my morning coffee and a microwave lunch my Mom gave me.

This morning I went to my morning class at the YMCA with my Mom. I really like it and can't believe those older ladies moving like they are! I can only hope to be like them when I reach that age. I also talked to the head person about doing an internship there. He said they couldn't pay me (which is fine!) but they could definitely help me build my resume so hopefully that works out. I went to store after I got home to get ingredients for the fudge business. Then I grabbed a snack of strawberry-banana-PB2 smoothie and a Fiber One oats & chocolate bar.

Lunch consisted of leftover chili (thanks Mom!) and Hershey dark chocolate caramels. Dinner was chicken stir-fry then we headed to P soccer game.

Day 5-9/18/15

Nickie-
Morning walk at Boy Scout Lake with the Y class was so nice!! The scenery and the fresh air was a nice change. We went to the store after the walk to return a pair of pants and get a few items (came back with more, like always). Walmart had clothes on sale, got shirts, shorts, and pants for $1-$5!! Finally made it home at 10:30 am and ate an early lunch (tuna, crackers, yogurt, cheese, and edamame).

Bob had to work over but we played on the Wii Fit as well as a few other Wii and Kinect games. The kids had so much fun even though P would get mad when he lost. I kept telling him that you would get better. Most of the Wii Fit games I was HORRIBLE at with no balance but got better and unlocked new games.

Day 4-SO BUSY!!!

Nickie-
I walked for an hour with my mom this morning! I didn't eat breakfast other than my coffee but had an early lunch (tuna, crackers, cheese, and edamame). I worked on my homework ALL DAY, today was definitely an intense homework day. We had dinner (meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and noodles). The girls had a soccer game, A scored 3 goals! At the age of A and B, they don't count goals but I think they were pretty close. She just needs to work on not being a ball hog. P wanted to sign up for Boy Scouts so we went to that after soccer. Kids got a bath when we got home. Not a lot going on with workouts today but I had homework like crazy. Hopefully get more workout in tomorrow. The schedule for tomorrow is walk with Y class, get few items at store and return P pants, make fudge, and do homework until kids get home then have family night: Wii Fit. The kids have seen us play it and are VERY interested so I think that would be great family fun.

Day 3-Sore and tired is good, right?

Nickie-
My kids had a 2 hour delay today (after being off school all last week for the fair!) so I got to sleep in. I had planned on getting up at 7 am to workout with Jenny on the Wii but that did not happen. I was so tired and my whole body hurt. After getting them off to school, I began my homework. I worked on that until lunch then I went back at it until kids came home from school. It is always so hard for me to get my son to do his homework in a timely manner. Does anyone else have this problem?? I mean he's in 2nd grade and it takes AT LEAST an hour to almost 2 hrs do his homework (math worksheet, spelling words, and 20 min of reading). I don't think it should take that long. He just does not want to do it and I have to fight him. Any suggestions??

He took so long tonight (2 hours) that we were unable to go outside to play because it ran into dinner. This is what we had for dinner. Crockpot Cheeseburger Casserole | DizzyBusyandHungry.com #cheeseburger #crockpot #slowcooker #healthy The picture is not mine, it is from the website. You can find the recipe here. I cooked it in the oven at 350 for 30 minutes instead of putting in the crockpot. I had forgotten that it was a crockpot meal until it was too late plus I need my crockpot for dinner tomorrow: Meatloaf. Update: This was too bland for me. My husband didn't like it and 2 out of 3 of the brat pack wouldn't touch it. I will not be making that again for sure.

I played the Wii Fit again for an hour then practiced TKD forms before going to bed.

Day 2-Daily struggles

Nickie-
Hello hello! I got my morning started off with my cup of joe, headed straight to the Y after kids left for school. There was no class today so my mother and I walked around the gym for 30 minutes. My arms hurt after the Chisel and Chat and the Biggest Loser DVD from yesterday! That is a good thing though! I came home for breakfast (omelet and yogurt again) and drank some water. My goal is at least 10 glasses of water a day but I really should do like 20! That's a lot of water to try to fit in the day, seriously.

I accepted and created another challenge on Fitbit. I'm already at 4,000 of my 10,000 steps at 9 am! I got this!!! At 11 am I have completed my second workout of the day with Wii Fit. I'm also at 7,000 steps so far :D Seriously if you have not gotten a Fitbit I highly suggest it. Here is the one that I got.

I just finished lunch (rest of honey teriyaki chicken, a few pieces of gouda, and root beer). The struggle of not eating or drinking items in the house that are unhealthy is so hard! That is why I try to keep them out, but the soda was for a recipe. Once it's gone, no more! What are some of your daily struggles?

Bob-

Got up at 5:20 this morning with the intention of exercising before work.  Like usual I ended up on the couch falling back asleep until I had to leave.  Eat my routine lunch at work but tried to walk around more instead of just sitting watching my machine run.

I did make it through the day without having a pop.  At least until I got home...  Damn root beer was taunting me during dinner.  So I drank it.  I did manage to walk on the elliptical for almost 15 minutes until the piece of crap leg fell off of it, twice!  I need to find a spot in the corner where it is level enough to stay on track.  After watching Nickie mess on the Wii Fit I decided to do a couple of things.  I did the steps and a balance game.

I decide at work today that I need to challenge myself to actually become fit and loose weight for our diet bet.  No more pop and chips!  Time to get fruits and veggies (and remember we have them) instead.  My other goal is to actually exercise for 20-30 minutes before work.  This will be hard because I don't sleep enough but I need the extra TKD practice.  So here is my tracker:

Days without pop: 0
Days without chips: 0
Exercised before work: No
Bob-

Today my wife and I have begun another trek at losing weight and becoming fit.  As for me it was typical day.  Eat a Kellog's breakfast bar on the way to work while drinking my morning coffee.  Then at first break eating a bowl of cereal, Cinnamon Toast Crunch today.  Not the healthiest but yum.  Eat a small lunch of leftovers, single serving of Cool Ranch Doritos, Greek yogurt and a granola bar.  Then another granola bar at last break.  Luckily I did not have any money so I couldn't get a pop.

Exercise began as soon as I got home.  Cleaned out the garage so Nickie and I could exercise to a Biggest Looser DVD.  Before that I had to finish mowing the lawn though.  Then it was 45 minutes with Jullian... I can tell that I haven't been very active in the last couple of weeks.  I felt drained half way through the workout.  So, I basically took it easy to start getting into the routine again.  After the training video it was on to TKD forms.

After some shredded BBQ chicken sandwiches for dinner it was homework time.  Which usually finishes off my night.  By passing out reading one of my books.

All in all, I am glad to start exercising again.  Have to lose 5lbs by the end of the month for a diet bet.  But more importantly I want to be fit so I'm not tired when I do anything.  It'll be really hard to achieve a black belt in TKD if I'm sucking wind every time I move.

I was going to add a photo like Nickie did but apparently I do not have any of me on my phone or computer.  I will have to add one later.

Jump Started!!!

Nickie-

Today I began the weight loss journey again (for like the millionth time!). I woke up, took my shower, had coffee, saw kids off to school, ate a HUGE omelet, then went to the YMCA for the morning class "Chisel and Chat". The class is held Mon, Wed, and Fri. It was a great workout! I enjoy it even though I am the youngest person in the class.

I accepted a Fitbit challenge for walking and think I am actually going to make it!! It will be my first time since the week that I've been wearing it that I will have accomplished 10,000 steps in a day. I got my first 5,000 step badge on Saturday. I did achieve my Fitbit goal of calories burned for the day.

My Mom wanted me to go to the store to get her (and apparently my kids) shoes and whatever else she felt she needed for retail therapy. I had lunch (teriyaki chicken with brown rice) then worked on homework. I really wanted to take breaks and hop on elliptical but that didn't happen. After kids got home, I helped them do their homework. When Bob got home, the family went to the garage where Bob and I exercised with Jillian Biggest Loser DVD. We practiced our TKD (Tae Kwon Do) forms even though we took a break for kids soccer. Then we ate dinner (BBQ chicken sandwich and chips). We played with the kids for a little after dinner. I colored, read, and sang to the kids for bed.

All in all I think it was a pretty good workout day. I'm hoping to get at least that much in everyday plus the elliptical. Tuesdays and Thursdays will be walking days so tomorrow morning Mom and I will walk at the YMCA.

My goal is to lose 8 lbs by September 28th for a Dietbet. Then I will have to lose 11 lbs by October 28th to win the Dietbet. I'm going to try my hardest to do so. I vow to log everyday, accept Fitbit challenged, exercise, and post here to keep myself accountable. I know I can do this! I did it before and I CAN do it again!!
